Magickal Witchy Dates During July 2024

Here is a round up of the magickal witchy dates for your diary during the month of July. This is quite a chilled month where you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour. More in depth ways to honour these days will be published across my social media pages and in my Moon Juice newsletter soon.

Friday 5th July – New Moon in Cancer. This is the perfect time to make a peace offering.

Cancer rules the home and family, so this New Moon encourages you to pay attention to domestic matters. It’s a great time to start projects that improve your living space or to strengthen family bonds. As this is a water sign it is a particularly good time to make peace with any parts of your past that haunt you and to tap into the energy of forgiveness. Is it time to make a peace offering?

New Moon in Cancer ushers in a deeply intuitive time, so trust your gut feelings and inner guidance during this period. Meditation, journaling, and other reflective practices can help you connect with your inner wisdom.

Monday 8th – The Celtic Tree Month of Holly – In Celtic lore, the Holly tree (Tinne) symbolises protection, strength, and enduring determination. This period is associated with the qualities of resilience and defense, reflecting the Holly tree’s evergreen nature and its use in ancient times as a protective barrier.

Holly was traditionally used to ward off evil spirits and protect homes – this ties in ever so nicely with our Cancer new moon energy. This month is a good time to focus on strengthening your boundaries, both physically and emotionally.

If you will be celebrating your birthday between 8th July – 4th August Holly is your Celtic Tree sign.

Sunday 21st – Full Moon in Capricorn – Each full Moon has many names by many tribes. These names are usually given to reflect what is happening in nature.

Although many people will know this as the Buck Moon, I am not Native American so I choose to call the moon by the names of my ancestry which include English, Irish, Scot & Welsh.

You can choose to call this month’s full moon whatever you wish, but I will be using the Claiming Moon. I absolutely LOVE this Celtic name, it feels really powerful, was this a time our ancestors would be manifesting something beautiful?

Other Celtic names include Mead Moon and Wyrt Moon. No wonder this was a time to celebrate! Fine ales, food and medicine abound. The Anglo Saxons are known to have called this the Hay Moon.

This month’s moon is in the sign of Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn, the planet of discipline and hard work. This Full Moon highlights our ambitions and the steps needed to achieve our goals. It’s a time to assess our progress and make necessary adjustments to stay on track. Just remember to stay balanced and savour your achievements and victories.

Monday 22nd – Leo season begins. Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac, is represented by the Lion and ruled by the Sun. Those born under the sign of Leo, from July 23 to August 22, are often characterised by their vibrant, dynamic, and regal nature. Leo energy is bold, creative, and full of warmth, making it one of the most enthusiastic and charismatic signs of the zodiac. Happy birthday Leo’s.
