Did you know, that this month’s full moon, the Worm Moon / Storm Moon / Sap Moon, is to be the most powerful moon of this year! I appreciate that every full moon is a potent time. But read on to find out why this one is extra special. Full worm moon ritual
Maiden Super Moon ∇
This year, 2020, we will encounter three supermoons. A supermoon occurs when the Earth and Moon are closest in their elliptic orbit, resulting in a larger than usual appearance of the moon. Thus, the magnetic pull of the moon is felt even stronger during these periods.
Lunar energies at the time of the full moon open up a window of opportunity to reflect, reap or release.
The moon represents the Divine Feminine, her cyclical nature perfectly aligning with the rhythm of women’s bodies (or vice-versa). I have noticed that these three supermoons have coincided exquisitely with the stages of the triple Goddess; Maiden, Mother and Crone.
For me, this upcoming moon has pushed my awareness into healing and strengthening my Root and Sacral chakras. As the Piscean astrological cycle comes to a close, it’s fitting that the old must be cleared so that we can encounter the new astrological year with clear emotions.
After a shaky start to 2020, a bright future can only be built on solid foundations. March’s full moon (Mon 9th, 5.47pm), offers a perfect time to revisit the shadow maiden one more time this cycle.
This first supermoon presents us with a lovely opportunity to heal our wounded maiden and to restore her youthfulness, confidence, and curiosity.
To do this, try this ritual and answer the know thyself questions.
You will need:
- Pen and journal
- Blossoms
- A red candle
- Your favourite song
- A flower crown
- A sweet essential oil such as Orange, Jasmine, Geranium or Rose
- Carrier oil to create a blend
- A few flower petals
Method
On the night of the full moon (Mon 9th), take a relaxing hot bath adding the petals and a few drops of the chosen oils to your water (if you only have a shower, omit the petals and add a few drops of oil to a sponge and hang in the shower to create an aromatic mist).
When you have dried, massage the blended oils into your skin. Tap into your sensuality, enjoy the smells and touch.
Next, layout your sacred items in front of you.
Close your eyes and call in Archangel Haniel, the angel of the moon and the womb space for protection and guidance.
See her pale blue light washing over the outside of your aura bubble.
Next, take a moment to connect your energy to the moon – you can do this by imagining her white light beaming down into your third eye chakra, and then see and sense her filling up the inside of your energy bubble with her sparkly magical glow.
Light the candle.
Place the flower crown upon your head.
Play your favourite song and dance like no one is watching. Get silly, smile and laugh! This is meant to be fun.
Now you can ask yourself the following questions:
∇ Do/did you hold shame around sexuality? (Particularly in your youth/teens)
∇ Do you feel embarrassed to share your personal desires out of fearing what others may think?
∇ Do you hold back in life? Where and why?
∇ At what age do you feel that you lost your childlike thinking (daydreaming / play/ sense of possibility?)
∇ If applicable, who in your life squashed that innocence out of you?
∇ Describe in a short story your wildest dream life (no objections)
∇ If you were still that free-thinking wild child, what would you say to yourself regarding this dream? What would you do about it?
∇ After reflecting upon your answers, tune into feelings of inspiration and make a list of how you intend to take action.
∇ Release any heavy energy by bringing in more moonlight, visualising the white light transforming and eating up any shadows.
∇ Feel free to play your song once again!
∇ Offer you blossoms up to the moon and Archangel Haniel.
This burst into the maiden aspect should be short and sweet. Mercury in retro on the night of the full moon will enhance your connection to the maiden aspect, a sense of nostalgia will come more easily. But act fast, as Mercury goes direct on the 10th, meaning this will be a blast into the past, moving on swiftly into the optimistic current to the build-up of spring season.
Worm totem
As the land began to thaw out, the first stirrings of earthworms appeared in the ground at this time of year, leading March’s full moon to be called (by some Native American traditions) the Worm Moon.
It is said that worms consume the guilt of the recently deceased. Again, this perfectly aligned totem helps us to turn the soil, recycling our old energies into the compost of wisdom for the future.
